Introduction

I am looking for a position where I can utilise my current skill set and expand upon it at every opportunity. I have an object oriented background and experience of many areas of software engineering. I offer a variety of both team experience and individual development.

Key Skills

PHP, (X)HTML, HTML5, WAMP, CSS, SASS, MySQL, javascript, AJAX, JQuery, JQueryMobile, Paint Shop Pro.

Current employment

MOHC Ltd. Website developer November 2009 - current

Using a WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL and PHP) environment for the maintenance and update of an online doctor system. The doctor system allows patients to order prescription medicine online, by completing a questionnaire or booking a telephone consultation without the need for a visit to their GP.

There are several parts to the online doctor application:-

The website server, which contains non-specific patient data such as white labels, products, currency, prices, etc.

The secure server, that holds the patient specific information such as name, dob, address, biometrics, past prescriptions and services used.

The prescribing software that the doctors use to view patient information and validate orders with prescriptions. This includes faxing the prescription to a particular pharmacy if in-store collection has been chosen. The software is written in Java, and for security requires a certificate and doctors encryption key.

RPC protocol is used to send information between applications.

The system is used by a number of websites each with their own tailored white label. This includes onlinedoctor.lloydspharmacy.com, www.drthom.com and onlinedr.netdoctor.co.uk.

The website is written in PHP, MySQL and javascript (using both JQuery and JQueryMobile). It is managed using the GIT version control system and capistrano deployment tool. Sass is used for creating css style sheets.

My work has involved working alone to integrate the system to work on mobile devices using a combination of JQueryMobile and css media types. The first mobile optimised website is due to go live at the end of January 2012

I have also worked as part of a team of two people, redesigning the existing system from function based to object oriented. We designed and built a simple Model, View, Controller (MVC) framework written in PHP with routing functionality so there is only one system entry point.

I worked by myself to redesign and implement the CMS to work with the new framework to incorporate new functionality dictated by the client. This included integrating the TinyMce HTML WYSIWYG editor.

Each product requires a different set of questions for the patient to fill in. I worked solely to design a system whereby the doctors can create and edit questionnaires, whilst maintaining an exact copy of past questionnaires that patients have filled in. Questions can be of any type, and doctors can set specific validation rules.

Part of the work also involves translating a design for a white label in to HTML, CSS and JQuery. Sometimes we are just given a set of wireframes to work from, other times we are given Illustrator files.

Other work involved creating a discount system with full admin, to create non-guessable voucher codes that can be speific to a whitelabel, product or group of products.

I sometimes need to edit or change images and we use Paint Shop Pro for this.
